A Name for Our School

After many months of thinking about names for our home school, including several brainstorming sessions, we have decided on "Tolle Lege Christian Academy". I really wanted to name our school as a matter of focus and fun, and the name is very fitting.

"Take Up and Read" is a translation of the Latin text. We LOVE books around our home and we believe the reading of good books to be central in education. But even more fitting is the story of Saint Augustine picking up his Bible and reading and coming to faith in Christ. My husband (SB) is slowly making his way through The Confessions of St. Augustine and this particular name was his idea. It is also fitting as we purpose evermore to take up and read the Word of God to guide us in educating our daughter. We have much to learn and far to go, and prayerfully at the end of the day we will hear "well done".

We are: Teacher Mom (me), SB (husband, father), and Berry Sweet (our 6 year old kindergartner, sometimes also known as Jumping Bean). Berry Sweet (who is sitting close by helping with this post) likes animals, the color pink, riding her bike (without training wheels!), chocolate milk, painting, and strawberries (hence the screen name).
