I know it has been awhile since I updated the 'ole blog, but here are a few pictures to show what we have been up to lately. I'll be back sooner than later with another update! :-)
We have our timeline up and running!
I have been tossing around several ideas for timeline keeping, and I finally took the plunge to devote some wall space to a big one that we can leave up and add to for quite some time! JB had a lot of fun watching me put up the strips (which are adding machine tape) and then we started filling it in with people that we have studied this year. I was inspired by Amy Pak's talk at the Heart of the Matter Online Conference. You can see her timeline tips here. I also used Knowledge Quest's spacing as a guide, but found that I could spread some things out even more. Our date divisions are not equally spaced, but I think that will be just fine for our purposes. It was great fun to devote the entire bottom strip to JB's own life and we have added pictures of her each year and also will add important dates for extended family members in the near future.
We've also been working on science projects;
and reading, reading, reading!
We also recently started Writing With Ease Level 1 and JB has been asking to do both copywork selections (you can choose between a shorter or slightly longer sentence on copywork days) and delights in giving excellent narrations. I think this is going to be a favorite program for this year! (And I'm so thankful for the workbook and how it is organized. It is super!)
I'll have to look into writing with ease, thanks for the link:)
Question, your Aeop's book, does that come with colored pictures or black and white?

Our Aesop does have colored pictures. :-) We are really enjoying WWE, and there are quite a few posts about it on the Well Trained Mind message boards (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/fourms) where you can read more that might help with a decision about using it. Others there are great about answering questions too if you have any. HTH :-)
